Before publishing

This is a draft policy. Confirm the app's actual data collection, storage, analytics, push notification and third-party integrations, then replace the contact placeholder below. Remove this notice before making the page public.

1. Information used by Boreal

To show relevant weather forecasts, Boreal may use your device's approximate or precise location if you grant location permission. You may also choose and save places manually. Location information may be sent to weather data providers to retrieve forecasts for the requested area.

Depending on how the app is configured, saved locations and preferences may be stored on your device. Any additional collection, including analytics, crash reports, account details or identifiers, must be disclosed here if enabled.

2. How information is used

3. Location permissions

Location access is optional. You can choose a place manually without granting device location access, if supported by the app. You can change or revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings. The app should not claim to track location in the background unless that functionality is actually implemented and disclosed.

4. Weather data providers

Boreal uses weather forecast information from third-party services, including Open-Meteo where integrated. When requesting a forecast, technical information such as requested coordinates and network information may be processed by those services under their own privacy practices.

Review the Open-Meteo terms and privacy information. Add any other active providers before publication.

5. Notifications

If push notifications are offered, they are optional and require your permission. Notification delivery may involve Apple Push Notification service and any notification infrastructure configured by Boreal. You can turn notifications off in your device settings.

6. Data sharing and advertising

Boreal may share the minimum technical information needed with service providers to deliver requested forecasts and app features. This draft does not establish whether advertising, analytics, tracking or sale of personal information occurs. The published policy must accurately disclose any such activity and the services involved.

7. Storage and retention

Saved places and settings may be kept on your device until you remove them or uninstall the app. If Boreal uses remote storage, logs, analytics or notification tokens, the types of data, retention periods and deletion process must be described in the final policy.

8. Security

We aim to use appropriate safeguards for information processed by Boreal. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

9. Your choices and rights

You can manage location and notification permissions through your device settings. Depending on applicable law and the data Boreal actually holds, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, or object to certain processing. Contact the app developer to make a privacy request.

10. Children's privacy

The app's intended audience and any age-related data practices must be confirmed before publishing. If Boreal is intended for children, additional privacy requirements may apply.

11. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when features, data practices or legal requirements change. The latest version and its update date will be shown on this page.
